Featured Review on BedandBreakfast.com

"My wife and I had never stayed at a B&B before but we needed a little getaway from our children. At Jackson House, we were greeted by name at the door. We felt right at home as soon as we walked in. It was really nice talking with the other guests at breakfast, and the food was so good I asked the innkeeper for the recipe. We had a wonderful experience and will stay at bed and breakfasts regularly now. Plus, we already booked a return trip to the Jackson House."

Staff Spotlight: Monica Alfonso, Membership Consultant

Monica Alfonso is one of the cheery voices innkeepers hear when they dial the Support number. She guides innkeepers in establishing and maximizing their BedandBreakfast.com listing and takes questions and concerns. So well, that innkeepers say things like: “Monica's diligence in wanting to help me was very sincere and again much appreciated!” and “Thanks a million. You have been more than helpful; you are simply a star.”

Monica received her Masters in Fine Arts in painting last May from Syracuse University after receiving her BFA in studio art from the University of Texas at Austin. Her parents spent most of the 1970s overseas in England, West Africa, and Indonesia, which sparked in her an early interest in traveling. She has visited the UK and Italy, where she studied abroad one summer and hopes to return some day. Before working at BedandBreakfast.com, she had worked in both commercial and non-profit art galleries in Houston and in Syracuse, and in customer service for a major online retailer in Austin.

Monica enjoys working at ELG Hospitality because of the efficient size of the company. “We sure do get a lot done considering how relatively small we are! Because of our size, our technical staff is also incredibly responsive to any issues I encounter with the functionality of the website,” she said.

It also gives her a chance to connect with innkeepers. “I enjoy talking to Innkeepers because they are passionate about what they do; it is their life’s work more often than not. I like that B&Bs are by nature unique and often reflect the innkeeper’s individuality and interests.”

When she is not renovating her newly purchased home, Monica enjoys painting, drawing, cooking, and caring for her two cats. She also takes advantage of living in the “Live Music Capital of the World” and is looking forward to the SXSW music festival.
