Promoting the Industry
Marti Mayne From labyrinths to lighthouses, shopping to seduction, we have some great promotions planned to publicize your B&B. Watch for our publicity leads in early January, and respond promptly and concisely. While we all know that only death and taxes are guaranteed, many BedandBreakfast.com member inns have been enjoying some great press coverage.
For example, the Churchtown Inn in Pennsylvania Dutch Country had their Thanksgiving special covered by the New York Post (circulation 410,000) as a direct result of our holiday release. We are anticipating a great press response to our BedandBreakfast.com Hot Deals press release, so make sure your inn is included with a sizzling offer.

Recent Publicity

We are thrilled with the response from both our members and the media to our publicity leads and subsequent press releases. During the month of November, we scored 6,739,491 impressions from 96 newspapers and magazines throughout the U.S.. You can read all current press releases online.

Our Christmas release, featuring holiday open houses and other special programs arranged by many of our member inns, got a wonderful response. Frommers.com sent the story to their 500,000 subscribers.

First for Women, a magazine with a 2.1 million circulation, published an article entitled "B&Bs Are The Place To Be," quoting the BedandBreakfast.com survey (08/2002) noting an 7.9 percent overall occupancy increase at B&Bs since 9/11. November, 2002..

BedandBreakfast.com is listed under lodging consumer sites of choice on AOL Personal Finance, with a circulation of over two million.

About.com links to BedandBreakfast.com both for on-going specials, listed on regional basis, as well as holiday specials, such as the Thanksgiving press release. American Woman Road & Travel does as well.

Michael Shapiro, writing for the Detroit Free Press recommends five top lodging sites; BedandBreakfast.com is the only B&B site described. This same article also ran in the Honolulu Advertiser, and elsewhere.

American Iron Magazine, "for people who love Harley-Davidsons," has a lengthy article about using the Internet to plan trips. Author John Dwyier writes: "When I'm on the road, I prefer to stay at a B&B or camp out," recommending B&Bs for local flavor and area information. He recommends BedandBreakfast.com for checking out B&Bs rates and pictures. December, 2002

Publicity Leads

As a service to our members, BedandBreakfast.com will be alerting you as we learn about upcoming publicity leads. We regret that we cannot respond to every email you send, but are very grateful for the excellent responses. We'll be listing the responses in the Recent Publicity section below, and/or including them in our Press Room. Watch for emails with this subject line: "Urgent: Publicity Lead from BedandBreakfast.com." Depending on the assignment, these leads will be distributed to inns in a specific region or more widely.

Special Promotions

One of the best ways to promote your property is to attract media and consumer attention with inviting seasonal promotions. And the easiest place to publicize them is on our Special Deals page. Here's how:

Here's the free deal for Silver members and up:

  • Log in with your property ID and password, then click the "specials" link on the left-hand side of the page.
  • Under "Special Summary," click the theme of your choice (see below) and combine a promotional rate with whatever tempting treats or special event tickets your guests might enjoy--it's up to you.
  • Remember that creative offerings are more likely to attract media attention -- they make a better story.
  • To see the specials that have already been posted by your fellow innkeepers, visit our Specials page and click the drop down box marked "Select Special."
