- Hit the delete key. Delete anything that looks like junk without opening it so
that you can clean the spam out of your inbox in a minute. If you highlight
emails you want to delete from your inbox while depressing the "control"
button, you can delete multiple emails at once (on a PC).

Prepare templates to personalize. Since the same questions come up frequently,
prepare a few template emails to personalize as needed.
"I check email often, usually two or three times a day. I'm able to answer
potential guests' questions at a time that is convenient for me, and sitting
down to the computer gives me a much-needed minute off my feet. People use the
phone for last-minute reservations or when they need an immediate answer, but I
think guests find emails to be convenient for their busy schedules as well. By
answering promptly, in a warm, personal, and friendly way, my B&B appears as
welcoming and inviting as it really is. First impressions are very important in
this business, and email gives me the opportunity to make a good impression at
a time that fits into my busy schedule." Lynn Ann Bishop, Duncan House,
Nicholasville, KY
"Anything with an attachment that is not related to business is immediately
deleted. We save time by skipping the sob stories and guilt mail (if you don't
send it to ten of your best friends something awful will happen), and we tell
friends and relatives not to forward their junk mail to us. Basically, if it
isn't from a group that we belong to, a reservation, or information request
from our website, we delete it. Although some catalog companies have our email
address, if we are not in the market for anything, we delete those immediately
also." Elaine & Kevin Conlin, Whalewalk Inn, Eastham, MA
"We surf the net less, email friends and family less, and are a bit more
selective in what we read in the mail box because of time restraints. We check
email up to ten times per day now -- we used to look at it before we turned out
the lights at night." John & Diane Sheiry, Darla Olmstead, Waverly Inn,
Hendersonville, NC
"We fortunately do not get much spam. It is wonderful to get e-mail from our
guests and vendors. Email is a excellent tool for keeping informed. I look at
it as a relaxing time to sit down and slow down." Lisa Mankins, Cayucos Sunset
Inn, Cayucos, CA
