About The Belding House Bed & Breakfast, Moretown, VT:

"Clif and Larry call themselves the custodians of the 200+-year-old Belding House because they 'are just one in a line of many owners' of this beautiful home. The Beldings, the family who built the home and the current namesake of the B&B, should be pleased with what Clif and Larry done to update this grand dame and her grounds. The inn is immaculate, and the colors in the decor are warm and inviting - perfect shades of autumnal bliss. The inn is well-adorned with artwork from around the globe, and amazingly, the international flavor blends seamlessly with the more traditional New England style of the home. (Be sure to ask for stories about the art.) The cozy bedding is so comfy it's hard to coax yourself out. But  the smells coming from the kitchen in the morning do the trick! Breakfast is a magical time of day at the Belding House - from French toast casserole and maple sausage to fresh fruit and piping hot coffee. But the hosts don't stop there. Homemade sweet treats are out throughout the day, and Clif and Larry always have local beers, wine and after-dinner drinks available to guests. Their home is truly your home for an unforgettable getaway."

Travel Trends

Half of all web viewers watching what the other half has to say: “According to the Deloitte's study on Media & Entertainment practice, looking at how American consumers between 13 and 75 years of age are using media and technology today, Millennials (13-24) are leading the way, embracing new technologies, games, entertainment platforms, user-generated content and communication tools. Data from the survey show that user-generated content is in tremendous demand across the generations, with 51% of all consumers watching and/or reading content created by others.

“Some key highlights of the findings include:

  • 51% of all consumers are watching/reading personal content created by others; the number jumps to 71% for Millennials
  • 55% of Millennials and 42% of Xers (25-41) read blogs

Canada’s online travelers shop differently:
“A new report from PhoCusWright Inc. reveals that almost one third of all travel in Canada will be booked online this year (leisure and unmanaged business), but with a highly consolidated air market and fragmented hotel and car rental markets, Canada’s online travelers shop and buy travel very differently than their U.S. counterparts.
PhoCusWright’s Canadian Online Travel Overview finds online travel in Canada gaining momentum. The Canadian leisure and unmanaged business travel market has more than doubled in two years to reach C$6.5 billion in 2006, and is projected to nearly double again by 2009. The Internet is playing an increasingly significant role in both influencing consumer shopping and as a source of transactions, PhoCusWright concludes.”

washingtonpost.com launches business travel section: “washingtonpost.com launched of its new Business Travel section featuring original content aimed at frequent flyers from The Washington Post, along with content from Conde Nast’s Portfolio magazine. The new section, which complements the current Travel section, provides research tools and information to benefit and prepare business travelers before, during and after the trip. In addition to content aimed at business travelers, the new section features travel search powered by Sidestep, as well as a WiFi locator that searches for hotspots worldwide.”
Inns that participate in BedandBreakfast.com Online Reservations are bookable through Sidestep.com.

Reviews top the list: “Just as many people wouldn’t think of buying a new toy like a plasma TV or a laptop without first checking online customer reviews and comments, it seems that many people wouldn’t dream of booking a vacation to a new location without first reading online reviews from travelers who have been there, viewing rich media such as virtual video tours, and reaching out to other travelers online to ask questions.

“A recent survey on the adoption of social media reports that 73 percent of travel companies plan to invest in social media over the coming year. The survey also found that 66 percent of travel companies name social media as the biggest growth area for marketing in the coming year.”

hotels.com adds 1,000th B&B to its property selection: hotels.com now features 1,000 bed and breakfast properties in its extensive portfolio of lodging accommodations. The company has increased its bed and breakfast selection in recent years and plans to continue adding properties based on growing demand from travelers seeking out the unique and distinct experiences offered by this type of specialty lodging. To search the full selection of bed and breakfast properties, visit hotels.com and click on the "Condos, B&B" tab on the home page.
BedandBreakfast.com is the sole provider of B&B content for hotels.com and Expedia.com.

Weekend travel up and booked online: “A study by online travel tracker PhoCusWright found that 84% of leisure travelers this year took or plan to take at least one long weekend trip. The rise of long weekend vacations can be good news for online travel providers. According to the annual study by PhoCusWright, weekend travelers spend $6 of every $10 on travel websites, vs. just $3 of every $10 for those taking vacations of a week or longer. PhoCusWright did phone interviews with 500 online travel shoppers.

“Travel Web sites such as Kayak, Orbitz and Expedia offer services for the weekenders. Frequent travelers who take short trips are getting used to using online services as a quick and efficient way to book weekend travel, observers say.”
